The future is commonly understood to contain all events that have yet to occur. It is the opposite of the past, and is the time after the present. A 2,000 year look into the future wont be a fantastic glance at human and mutant evolution. But a dim reminder of the horrors that evil will always remain no matter how hard good strives to extinguish it.

In the future a terrorist named Stryfe is able to create a deadly virus. The virus originally came in two forms, Legacy-1 and Legacy-2, later mutating itself into a third form, Legacy-3, all three viruses airborne agents. The viroids targeted organism's with the so called "X-factor" all mutants share. If the deadly virus did not find an active X-factor target, the virus stand would die off, leaving the organism completely unharmed. However if the the virus did detect the X-factor in it's inhabitant, the virus would began encoding itself into the targets RNA, screwing up with the original DNA programming. The result was a major compromise of the replication and transcription process so disruptive as to eventually render the body incapable of creating healthy cells, ultimately resulting in the death of the victim. Prior to death, the viroid causes its host's powers to flare out of control.

Currently in the present, it's been six year since humanity discovered that in deed they weren't alone, that they shared the planet with evolved humans known as mutants. A big shocker through out thee world then, now things have died down a bit. The world has resentfully learned to live with mutants, although some anti-mutant hater's have learned through out time and have become more organized and precise with their plans. The past two years had been peaceful; mutants where allowed to join government positions, establish themselves as part of the community, and blend in some with regular folks. But recently the atmosphere of peace has been shattered with what is called, "Magneto's Second Coming". Magneto along with his second in command, Mystique, have been scurrying about recruiting fresh, young, member's for the Brotherhood of Mutants, as well as old veterans from the past. Afraid of what Magneto and other mutant supremacist could do, the government has once again brought up mutant registration act, to force mutants to out themselves. This alone has brought up so much chaos between then two races of humans and mutants.

The present alone is chaotic enough, but their is a greater threat at bay. The threat of the Legacy viruses. Messing with time, somehow the 2,000 future year virus has begun appearing in the present. No one truly understands the complexity of this threat at the time being, well no one except for a few choice mutants who have traveled back in time to some how stop the Legacy virus from coming true and getting worse in their future. Now mutants from all faction, are beginning to look for a cure against the Legacy Virus. Unsure and afraid at the potential of the virus, mutants all over--no matter their beliefs, are searching quickly for fear that they might be next. To their dismay, mutants are still unaware that S.H.I.E.L.D has acquired information about the Legacy virus. If S.H.E.I.L.D where able to find out the secret to the Legacy Virus and learn to use it, it's unclear if the government agency would use it to get rid of the "mutant problem" for good. Now a race, it's unclear who will be able to hone the Legacy Virus.
